Google Updates AdWords to allow website targeting by Ad

Google has enhanced AdWords to allow more targeted network ads by allowing advertisers the option to target ads on a specific website. This is significant in that as an advertiser I know that my content network ads are going to websites that I specify. As a content publisher I can send my advertisers to Google to have then use adwords to target my website. This is a win win and a feature that we asked Google to include in adwords over a year ago.

From Google:

"Our advertisers have asked for the option to target specific sites in our content network, and to reach prospects with compelling ad formats at different points in the purchasing cycle. Users have told us they are tired of seeing the same banner ads everything they visit their favorite sites. We listened and now we would like to give you a sneak peak at the new features we will be releasing for the AdWords platform. "

BLINKX 3.0 FIRST FULLY INTEGRATED SEARCH TOOL

Blinkx today announced the release of blinkx 3.0, the world's first fully integrated search tool. With blinkx 3.0 users can, for the first time, view results from the desktop, the Internet, television and the news in a single, combined list. blinkx, which is free to download at www.blinkx.com and already has more than one million users, has been changing the way people think about search since its launch in Summer 2004. This release is just the latest innovative milestone for blinkx, building on its unique Implicit Query (IQ) technology, and offering users unparalleled functionality across content from television, the internet and their desktops.

blinkx, a recognized technology leader in the search industry with a strong reputation for pre-empting established players, today became the first player to offer users fully integrated search and a true single click search experience. blinkx users can now link directly to results from their hard drive, the internet, news and even television, all from a single search result list. Breaking the traditional content barriers that exist between information on a user's machine and internet and television content, blinkx generates an integrated results set, spanning a user's entire information landscape. Version 3.0 of the software also uses blinkx's Implicit Query (IQ) technology to link users straight to relevant information from the application where they are currently working. Without having to actively or explicitly fire off a search or even choose words to search on, IQ uses intelligent analysis of the page a user is reading or writing to find related information, again regardless of its source, whether the local computer, the internet or television.

Lexis Nexis OEMs Fast for Total Search

I am at the ABA Techshow this week in Chicago and had the opportunity to view the new Total Search product from Lexis Nexis.

It looked very slick but could be labor intensive in that it it only indexes a small percentage of a firms total documents. So someone must review the documents and determine relevancy. Total Search is fined tuned for the legal industry and can capture content that is unstructured and even content that is in Content Management System.

LexisNexis® Total Search is a web browser-based application that expands the boundaries of the LexisNexis Total Research System by letting a user search at www.lexis.com and within their law firm's internal work product simultaneously fully utilizing its most valuable assets the intellectual property and collective expertise already residing within the firm.
Once LexisNexis Total Search is installed on a firm's network, users can quickly and easily find relevant work product, including existing pleadings, depositions, memos and motions written by in-firm experts, together with trusted information from LexisNexis – with one search through the familiar user interface of www.lexis.com.
Researching using the LexisNexis Total Search application is essentially the same as researching at www.lexis.com. The difference is that now a user can securely and confidentially search their firm's internal work product when searching any LexisNexis database or file. Users can then easily review and navigate between both internal and LexisNexis results
